The Islamic Foundation of Lincoln was founded in 1986 as a non-profit religious organization in the capital city of Lincoln, that follows the Quran and Ahl Al-Sunnah. The mosque is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). IFL is the oldest mosque in the state of Nebraska. Since the mosque plays a vital role in the lives of Muslims, many incoming Muslim immigrants established residence in Lincoln to be near and around the mosque.
Vision
Our vision is to be the leading mosque in Nebraska by continuing to provide Islamic guidance and services based on the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) to the Lincoln community and surrounding areas.
Mission
To serve the Muslims in Lincoln and surrounding areas by helping to strengthen their Islamic faith and moral conduct to better assist their community and society
To foster a Muslim community based on Islamic principles of equality, mutual help, and Islamic teachings of peace, love, and justice
To strengthen sisterly/brotherly relations among Muslims within the community and other Islamic Organizations with similar missions
To establish an interfaith dialogue with other faiths to develop cooperation, tolerance, and mutual understanding to serve our community
To assist Muslims by teaching and guiding them to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle and family
Programs
Bringing the Community Together:
Conducting the five congregational daily prayers on time
Conducting Friday Prayer (Jummah) with the Imam or an informed speaker
Holding the Ramadan Congregational prayers (Taraweeh)
Celebrating the two annual Eids, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha and performing the prescribed prayers
Host visits with members of different churches and other faiths
Provide Educational and Counseling Services:
Organize lectures, religious sermons, social activities, and educational functions based on the teachings of Islam
Provide Islamic Sunday School to the youth, “Lincoln Islamic School”
Perform Islamic marriages and provide counseling sessions to couples based on the Quran and Ahl Al-Sunnah
Perform funeral services to the deceased
