About Us Between 1990 and 2000, a very large population of Oromos have made the United States their new home. Of those recent immigrants, the majority of them are concentrated around the Twin Cities area. As the community grew, so did its needs. By 2004, by the will of Allah and the generous help of the community, Tawfiq Islamic Center of Minnesota in Saint Paul Minneapolis was collectively purchased. Of those recent immigrants, the majority of them are concentrated around the Twin Cities area. As the community grew, so did its needs. By 2004, by the will of Allah and the generous help of the community, Tawfiq Islamic Center of Minnesota in Saint Paul Minneapolis was collectively purchased. The establishment of this new community center served to preserve the American Muslim identity, the sociocultural and linguistic needs of the community. From that very simple seed sown on that day, we now harvest children who started from Alif, the very first letter of the Noble Quran but who are now honored as Hafiz after having memorized the entire Quran by heart. It is these sort of noble and successful deeds that puts a smile on Muslim parents and inculcates a sense of confidence and responsibility on the kids themselves.For the Muslim Oromos in Saint Paul, the indispensable Islamic services offered at Tawhid Islamic Center were difficult to obtain for logistical reasons. Oromos are now estimated to be around 20,000 in the Metro area, with a heavy concentration in Midway and Frogtown neighborhoods in St. Paul. By 2010, it became the wisest decision for large number of Oromos to come together and develop a strategic plan. The community announced the beginning of Tawhid Islamic Center. This is the stepping stone where quality social, personal, spiritual, religious services and the scholars of the Holy Quran and the traditions of the Prophet (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) will be produced.
